Folsom lies on the the banks of the American River 22 miles east of Sacramento along Highway 50 and is the terminus of the Sacramento Regional Transit ‘Gold Line’ which connects Sacramento (Amtrak) Station to Historic Folsom.
The Historic District is full of interest and surprises, with museums and attractions, restaurants, and great speciality shops all within easy walking distance.
Among other attractions nearby is Folsom Zoo Sanctuary - a very special kind of Zoo, and Folsom Premium Outlets - for those of us on the lookout for a bargain.
Folsom is blessed with miles of bike trails and paths for the more adventurous and boasts good quality hotels in which to rest after a fun day of exploration!
In fact, Folsom is a great base from which to explore the Gold Country - by bicycle, automobile and maybe soon - in south west El Dorado County.........by train!
